I'm hoping that this is the right forum for this but Mods please feel free to move if not...
I am looking to buy an air rifle to do some target shooting. It's something that I have always fancied owning and doing and we have a large enough garden with a safe area that I can use.
Can anyone recommend a supplier who delivers? The one I am talking to is quoting 4-5 weeks which is too long really.
Thanks

Closed due to CV...and Im not sure a trip to my local RFD would be classed as essential either https://www.pellpax.co.uk/airguns/air-rifles/sprin...
Is my plinking toy - pellpax may still deliver, but from their site lead times are extended

Get one by the likes of BSA, Air Arms, Weihrauch etc and it will be well made and last a lifetime. They also keep their value. I imagine the delivery dates are because we are to avoid any non-essential contact with others. I would wait until that changes. If you've always wanted one then a few more weeks won't hurt.

Oh, and the gun you want is a TX200.....
As accurate as a PCP and half the cost......get one with a TinBum kit fitted or similar, lovely things......
where can you buy a tx200 that cheap, on most website they are similar in price to the s400! also i hate to disagree but a pcp will always be more accurate to the average shooter, i have 2 springers and 2 pcp's, as much as i love the pcp i prefer the springers but they are not as accurate shot after shotAs accurate as a PCP and half the cost......get one with a TinBum kit fitted or similar, lovely things......

Ive had FAC Rapids, FAC AA 410 and standard 12lb Rapids, but still loved my TX more...altho I missed the trigger of the Rapid.....
Accuracy - I guess if you are into the whole field target deal, then yes, PCP will prevail, but got the average shooter, a good springer is not that far behind...
Just wish you cou;d convert them into .20 lol

I think you guys are way out of my league. I'm looking to spend around a 100 quid on a spring air rifle and extra for a scope.
I reckon that will get me going and then I can see if its something I want to pursue as a hobby...
Sadly there is a lot snobbery in the airgun world. Probably best to ignore most of it. As a great many will shun anything that isn't the correct name.I reckon that will get me going and then I can see if its something I want to pursue as a hobby...
That said, £100 is not going to get you much. Not even used.
Pellpax have a 2nd hand Gamo Whipser or a Remington Express for about your budget:

If you can push your budget a little more, I quite like the look of the BSA Meteor Evo. Not the best springer out there, but not a bad place to start.
Whilst I agree with re snobbery, it is very similar to the lower end of the Guitar market - something silly cheap just wont do the job properly and wont give the level of satisfaction required, and therefore, the noob leaves the hobby as he cant get what he wants out of it.
Spending a few quid more, in both cases gives the user both a more enjoyable experience, and if not, is more easily saleable.....
If that makes sense...

To an extent I agree. However you only have to visit the airgun forums to see how much nonsense is spouted. A £150-180 springer will be perfectly fine to hit some targets with and plink.Spending a few quid more, in both cases gives the user both a more enjoyable experience, and if not, is more easily saleable.....

Airgun BBS is a great forum, but its all about the latest and greatest PCP , there are a few decent springer tuners ont here though...
I used to have an ASI Rangemaster as a kid and saw one advertised recently. I figured it might be fun to get back into some target shooting (I've never got into killing things myself) so bought myself an early birthday present. Unfortunately though, although the ASI was nigh on perfect condition, 30+ years worth of nostalgia couldn't disguise the fact that it was pretty much an antique. I opted to buy myself something newer instead. In fact, I bought 2 guns, an Air-Arms TX200 .177 under lever and a .22 Kral AGS PCR-1. I didn't set out to buy 2 rifles but they're very different to each other and I enjoy using them both.
It's a nice way to relax, although I really need to set my scope up properly to improve my accuracy.
I joined www.airgunforum.co.uk and they seem like a nice bunch. There is a decent classifieds section where they make an effort to keep scammers at bay.
There's also a surprising number of ranges out there.
