Our aging cross trainer has given up. Wife fancies replacing it with a treadmill, and pondering second hand. Had a look on ebay, and there's hundreds of brands.
Looking for something robust and foldable - Cross trainer was a pig to move around. Budget is flexible, but thought maybe 500 would get us something decent?
What brands should we be looking at? Any recommendations?

I bought a reebok oneGT40s some time ago which we’ve been happy enough with. The model variations change but overall they seem quite well made, so I’m sure modern versions are probably ok too. I bought mine secondhand in mint condition so don’t discount doing that, I got it for 225 as opposed to 400 quid new. Note, they still weight a tonne so you can’t really move them, I would suggest.

Thanks. Cross trainer is reebok, and has had some hammer over the last ten years. I needed one for my winter torture chamber and managed to get a Sole F63 second hand in great condition on ebay for well within your budget.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the model - obviously not as posh as one of the top end gym models, but it's robust, sturdy with a large LCD display and the only real thing you'd notice against a high end model is that it doesn't accelerate as quickly, but other than that it'll manage 15% inclines and a 20 km/h top speed.
it really is a great piece of kit and has been invaluable - along with a couple of other pieces of equipment, it has transformed the way I train during the winter.
