I am looking to replace an old racquet and get back into tennis. I have been gifted a Boris Becker 11 and had a new grip fitted, but the man at the club said it wasn’t a beginner racquet, more an advanced. I’m thinking of eBaying it and looking for a replacement. Have played with a Babolat and Wilson, and preferred the Bab, but would like opinions please on what a good racquet would be to suit me a while.

Hey,
Just seen this now,

How do you hit with the current racket, anything you like about it, anything you don't?

The best advice i can give you would be hit with as many rackets as you can.

Bab and Wilson make several different models of rackets, and in those models there will be differences as well.

For example
One of Babolats best selling models is the pure drive.
An excellent racket that you will see at local tennis courts being used by total beginners to guys hitting in the Futures.
But in the pure drive line, you also have models such as, pure drive plus, pure drive team, Pure drive tour and even more.

Beginners are often recommend light rackets with an oversized head, ughhh... While this will get you hitting it can also be limiting as if you progress.

Light rackets lack stability and power and are easily pushed around.
Other things when buying a racket are grip size and the strings. Theres no need to go full poly...

Honestly what i would recommend to a beginner, is what ever they like that won't cause an injury.
Babolat Pure Drive
Wilson Clash 100

Both solid rackets that imo are great for all levels. Avoid super light rackets and massively oversized models, 98 to 102 is fine, especially if you want to play modern strokes with top spin and improve.

Often shops with dedicated tennis sections will let you try some rackets for a few days, so if you can get a day down the courts grab a bunch of rackets and go for a hit.
