Hi all,

I have a webley vmx air rifle, it's always been good and hardly ever used.

We now have a fairly large crow problem that we need to deal with, is there anything more powerful and or more accurate over distance that the vmx for say £400-500

Or will I not see an improvement ? Not sure how they measure the power of air rifles these days

Thanks

hi mate
depends if you want a pcp or springer?
i would be looking at air arms s400 world class pcp used in hft and hunting/pest control, or a hw90/95/97 springers again been around for a long while and very well thought of.
to get the power measurement you need a chrono and to know the pellet weight.
i would be tempted into something used for 250-350 and spend the rest on good optics.
keep us posted on what you decide!

Air rifles are limited to 12ft/lbs at the muzzle unless you have a firearms certificate. Quick google shows the Wembley to have 11.5 so you won't get any more power regardless of spend.

If you've got a .177 though it might be worth investing in a .22 pcp as the bigger pellet is better for crows.

If the gun is working fine and is in good condition, don't waste your money, (Unless you actually fancy a change/upgrade)

Airguns are limited to 12 ft bs without having to have a licence (in England, NOT Scotland) and your gun will be not far off that.

Fit a decent scope, maybe 3 x 9 x 50 or thereabouts and use good quality pellets.
