Only a few weeks to go, should hear the team selections soon.....

If you were America, would you pick Tiger Woods?

Hope they do, he's never really delivered in the RC.

Good question.

As a Euro supporter, I do hope they pick him as I see him as being a possible "weak link" - sure, he is playing better and his stats are not to be questioned but he's not delivered under real pressure recently.

Not sure I would select Phil either.

No matter what choices he makes, the USA team will be a formidable one.

More importantly will Thomas Bjorn pick Poults ?

I see a very even contest this time around.

I'd love to see a Europe victory but I can only see a massive US victory, unfortunately.

As for Captain's picks, Bjorn needs to be picking Wallace, Poulter, Fitzpatrick. Wallace is the next Poulter I reckon with his passion.

TW is definitely getting picked.

husband and i are going for all three days.

poulter, wallace, cabrera-bello and casey would be my 4 wildcard picks for team europe.

as for team usa picking both tiger and lefty - i hope this happens.....because i will fancy our chances for winning.

Casey can bugger off the way he has previously treated the comp. the picks should be and im pretty sure will be, Poulter, RCB, Stenson and Garcia.

I expect the Americans to pick woods.

The septics have a tremendous team and should piss on us.....but the Ryder Cup brings things out in some of these Europeans! cant wait will be a fantastic weekend!

Bjorn has fully lost the plot. Picking Garcia over Wallace or Fitzpatrick or even Pieters?! Mad man.

With Woods, Mickelson and Garcia all picked, where does the balance sit between picking the best players and the commercial reality of the situation which is that those mainstream names drive viewership and news coverage.

- Are they simply picking that best players for the competition?
- Are they going for the traditional England football manager approach of picking players based on their column inches in 'Hello' magazine?
- Is there an informal agreement all round that the Ryder Cup is a huge showcase for golf and that the best players automatically qualify and as such the wild cards should be used to get in the big names that missed the cut?

Other sports where the organizing body of the event makes the wildcard picks use the slots for the latter reason, such as tennis and snooker.

A perfect stage to make it all about Poulter, for Poulter. Craves limelight, desperately seeking camera time at every opportunity. Team player my backside....

I like the European picks. Garcia is obviously a stand out pick, no form - yet still in the team. When you look at his Ryder Cup record, its very very good. I'm banking on Garcia going unbeated on both Friday and Saturday. I also fancy Europe to win overall - 15.5 v 13.5 is my prediction.

Feel sorry for Wallace - 3 wins and the Bjorn doesn't pick him. Its his lack of experience that cost him his place unfortunately. The American team is very strong, but home advantage is a big bonus. They'll do well to beat team Europe.

Difficult to really get to know the sort of people these stars really are (behind their ‘media personalities’, but everything I’ve seen and read about him suggest that he is a genuinely nice guy. Certainly one of my favourite golfers!

Very much looking forward to the Ryder Cup. Have the Friday booked off already, but due to some stupid oversight I’m out of the country on the Saturday and Sunday frown
