Snooker UK Championship Final Today
Discussion
Surprised at the lack of posts on the UK Champ snooker final between Sullivan and Murphy. Is snooker now completely out of fashion?
Great game so far.
Current afternoon score is 4-4 and the evening session is next.

Good win for Sullivan. Clearly past his best, but still beating just about everyone, and switching effortlessly between left and right shots.
Past his best?He played near perfect snooker in the last session!!
Great match I have to say and good to see Ronnie taking it.
Yep, Ronnie was every bit as good as he was in the Welsh Open last year (and that included some of the best under pressure long potting I've ever seen, even including some of the "specialists").
I think Stephen Hendry nailed it when he said that Ronnie having plenty of things to do outside of snooker is doing him good. Every time a young 'un pipes up - be it Judd Trump or Mark Allen (who seems to think really quite highly of himself) - I can't help but think they have to improve in every conceivable way to simply compete. I have no idea how Ronnie keeps doing it, but hope that it continues for a long time.

The evening session yesterday was superb but I think Ronnie was at his best in the early to mid 00s. Back then he could play back to back 3 or 4 session matches in the manner he did last night. And he was doing it against peak Higgins, Williams, Hendry, Paul Hunter etc. He missed some balls last week (vs the young Thai player for example) that he'd rarely miss when he was younger.
That said, he clearly had a lot of mental health issues back then which he seems to be on top of now - if he had found the calmness he now has earlier in his career I think he'd have easily gone past Hendry's 7 World Championships by now.
However I still think he's the best ever and by quite a margin now. He's like Roger Federer - logic says that he shouldn't be this good at his age yet somehow he is and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. I hope he wins another World Championship.
