Gaiters - Dartmoor hiking

Heading off with my mates to do a 30+ mile hike on Dartmoor this weekend, camping overnight etc.

Do I need gaiters?

I used to wear them when I was younger and hiked on Dartmoor, but now I need to buy some, should I? Or just go without.
