I am wanting to start Game shooting - pheasants etc.

Where can you recommend to start? Would you recommend heading to the local clay place ?

Are you a clay shooter already? Are you in possession of a SGC? If not you need to be prepared for a long journey

You shouldn't be shooting at live quarry until you are reliably safe and can reliably kill what you are shooting at.

Start with some lessons and pay attention to safety. Clay shooting is set up to be safe. Shooting in the field is a completely different ball park.

Season ends Jan 31st so doubtful if you will get started soon.

Local Clay club is a good place to put out feelers. Be prepared to put the hours in - I beat and worked on shoot for several years before a gun became available

BASC is a good place to start

Shotgun certificate - in the process of applying. I had one before but lapsed and didn't shoot due to work commitments.

Lessons - for sure. Will be booking on some of those next year.

Aiming for the shooting season - next year!

If you're in the North West I can point you to a coach that will take you through clays and onto game shooting next season.

Close enough to Manchester Clay Shooting then.

The coach I use teaches out of there - not cheap but if you book a series of lessons over the spring and summer and get your SGC sorted then he should be able to get you on a game day which he organises (usually on Anglesey) next season.

PM me for details.
