A lifetime dream come true. At 49 years of age I get the chance to play at Lords.

National Village Cup Final, Lords Cricket Ground, Sep 4, 11am.

Sessay CC v Sibton Park CC.

To say I'm buzzing is an understatement. The semifinal on Sunday was the most tense, nerve wracking game of cricket I`ve ever played. In front of a large home crowd with a healthy contingent of alcoholic Welsh away supporters walking out to open the batting was a special moment. Didn't disgrace myself, 4th out for 23. Sibton turned the game around from being 98 for 8 and down and out to winning by 9 runs. A massive pissup ensued and I rocked up home 8am Monday morning.
Here I am wafting away at a wide one.

Thanks bud, still struggling to believe its happening. We get the full treatment apparently, same as a Test side. Will be a special day.

Living the dream!

I bet that will be an incredible experience. Best of luck - would be a shame not to come away with a win.

That's amazing! And now we get to live vicariously through you!

Drink it all in. We want a detailed account of what it felt like!

Yeah will report back. Many, many photos will be taken. Just got home from the clubs regular net session. No nets took place, we resumed in the bar where we left off deep into Monday morning.

Yup, Mrs H67 is as excited as I am as are all the wags at the club.I hope they get to share as much of the day as possible as we couldn't have got to the Final without them.

Brilliant! Have fun, OP. I had the pleasure of attending a large dinner in the Long Room two years ago and it's an incredible place.

Well, things starting to happen. We have to have player profile pics taken, a short biography written and being measured up for a suit next week. Tickets for the wags/families/club officials arrived this morning. Coaches for the trip to Lords booked.
Also the BBC want to film/interview us at a specially arranged net/training session at some point as well.

I've got a new bat that I've been knocking in for a few weeks, I'm tempted to just use it the once in this game and have it framed for posterity.

All very exciting stuff.

Yes, do this, with a suitable caption.

I'm sure you've been there before to watch a game but the slope really does make you look twice when you forst clap eyes on it. Even now on the Tele it doesn;t look all that great.

Have a fantastic day and the best of luck.

And remember, there is no ridge on a 'length' ... they removed it years ago, so they reckon. but if you get one that pops ...

Just go out wth Viv's attitude.

Thanks mate, only ever been to Lords once. Probly 10 or more years ago to see a Test between England and Zim. Was wet and only got half a day in. Nasser and Trescothick were batting against Heath Streak. Didn't get anywhere near the pitch though, was high up in the top tier.

My job is to go out and whack it, didn't happen in the semi due to us being 23 for 3 but hopefully I can do myself justice in the Final. Our club getting to the Final has caused a real buzz in the area, I think we've already filled several coaches of supporters.

We do have a slight issue though in that we have our last round of Kent League games the day before the Final. None of the players in the squad for the Final are interested in playing, for obvious reasons, so not sure what will happen. Hopefully the League will allow some sort of postponement but who knows.

Well done H and a good action shot to open the thread.

I grew up 1/4 mile from leafy Lords and as a young lad used to watch the matches for free from the high rise across the road by pretending to be delivering papers to the residents.

It's a nice part of town so if you and your fellow village fun boys could leave it as you found it I'm sure the locals would be grateful.

Do let us all know how you get on. Good luck!

England selectors will probably be there, they need a few new batsmen. Wear clean underwear. Good luck.
