My OH is after a dumbell set consisting of something like 2 x 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10kg weights. She'd ideally like adjustable sets where you you can add weights to a bar but separate bells would be okay.

Any recommendations?

I will recommend NOT getting the chrome plated York set with cast iron plates.

The plates rust and make a mess. The chrome plating flakes off and they are uncomfortable.

A set of Bowflex or other adjustable dumbells are quite good apparently, however can be quite expensive.

I'd say kettlebells are more useful than dumbells, unless she's working on her guns or something.

You can get a thorough all over workout with some kettlebells and a decent routine.

My wife has been at kettlebells classes for a year or so, picked up some in Aldi cheaply the other week. Sainburys had some reduced as well.

Thanks for the tips, she's going to look at kettle bells as an alternative.
