Running a marathon abroad
Discussion
I've done lots of racing abroad (not marathons). It's always been pretty simple. I pace-made a friend for 21 miles in the Zurich marathon a few years back - that was a good event and a nice city to visit.
Top tip for travelling runners: Put vital race kit (trainers, race clothing) in your hand luggage so you don't need to worry if the hold luggage goes AWOL.

Brighton - if you register this week then you'll get a chance for a place when it re-opens for entries soon.
Nice and flat - beautifully organised and only 50 miles from London, and a week or two before.
I've run Paris and Berlin abroad - Paris was awful, Berlin was great and that's arguably the fastest big marathon there is.

Berlin is quick as is Frankfurt. I travelled to the UK for the Kent Roadrunner Marathon at the end of May and it was nice to meet up with friends and enjoy a couple of nights out in the City afterwards.

Im also looking at doing Berlin next year.
Has anyone ran Geneva Marathon? Looks a relatively flat course, nice (ish) weather and it's cheap!
The marathon might be cheap in Geneva, but the hotel and food prices are eye-watering usually!Has anyone ran Geneva Marathon? Looks a relatively flat course, nice (ish) weather and it's cheap!
(I was working in Geneva for the first 6 months of 2011 and trained for my marathon by the lake)
I did Berlin last year. It's great. Easily as big as London. Well supported, well run, loads of Brits out there. Would highly recommend to others. Actually sat on the plane next to Stuart Storey (commentator)
As per the earlier post, be careful where you put equipment. BA managed to not load anyone's bags so it was a bit nervous for my Friday evening. But it all arrived Sat 3am so no great problem. The Expo you go to, to get your number must be the biggest in Europe. It's staggering!
Any questions feel free to ask
