I've been quite impressed with some of the parkour videos I've seen and vaguely thought, "that would be good to have a go at". I'm no acrobat, but I'm reasonably good at hopping over/across rocks and at technical descents on a mountain bike (for a Dad in his late 30s).

Anyway, at the local park the other night, a group of 12(?) year olds were swarming all over the playground and pulling off some quite impressive 'parkour' moves, including vaults on/off/between fence posts and some fairly big drops and rolls.

Their fearlessness and level of agility made me instantly feel like a pensioner (my ankles were wincing too)...
-in truth, at their age I was fairly heavy and would not have had the balance to do it anyway. I was more into brawn-based activities at that age, with the resulting injuries.

It was good to see kids doing something active and constructive -Their fitness will be good if they manage to avoid injury.

Anyhow, I will have a go at improving my balance and I might try a bit of vaulting occasionally whilst out on a run, but my battered and surgically repaired body probably won't be jumping off large structures anytime soon!
