Time limit for collecting winnings from a bookie?
Discussion
I failed to collect my winnings at a horse race last year from an independent bookies last year (i was very, very drunk).
I still have the winning ticket which i intend to take back with me this year.
Does the bookie have to honour my ticket and payout - or is there a time limit? There's no mention of this on the ticket.

Not sure about independent bookies however I know of cases where people have been paid out 6+ months after the bet was placed. What generally happens is you present the slip in the shop and if your bet isn't on their system (which is quite common after a certain time period) they will give you their HQ customer services contact details and when you post or scan & email the slip to them you will get paid. If the bet is still on the system at the shop then obviously they will pay you there and then.
If they refuse then post a thread in Speed, Plod & the Law and someone will tell you what the legal position is. You could also try contacting IBAS.

But I'm sure it won't come to that.
