Got a week's work next week in Wokingham and having just got back in to fishing, thought I'd take my rod with me. Anybody recommend a good spot for evening fishing?

I've bought a licence, can I fish on the Thames or do I need a special permit?

TIA

Not a fisherman myself, but is this of any use? http://www.wokingham.gov.uk/sports/fishing/

Certainly see a lot of people fishing on my runs around Black Swan and White Swan lake at Dinton Pastures.

Yateley has some excellent fishing - and some day tickets if I remember rightly (South Lake) but a lots changed since the break up of CEMEX angling. Trilakes is also Day ticket and reasonably pleasant if somewhat artificial. A lot depends on what you're fishing for. Give Yateley Angling Center a call - they are VERY friendly and helpful.

If you've got transport, you should try Buryhills, nr Dorking... takes me 25 mins to get there from Weybridge.

3 lakes, all good. The main lake is primarily Bream unless you're night fishing. Bonds is carp to low doubles (on method/pellet waggler). Miltons is Crusians and Tench (float works best).

One of the best commercial fisheries in the UK.

Havent been fishing in ages, so info might be a bit out of date. Reminds me, really need to stick all my gear on ebay frown

Wokingham, Holme Grange: 30lb'ers (apparently), most I had was 17lb but I was awful. Guaranteed at least 4-5 catches.

5 mins from wokingham (Bracknell): South hill park which I think is mainly carp.

10-15 mins away, TriLakes: Tench, carp, bream (I think).

Theres another in Bracknell by the tip (Longshot lane) but I havent a clue if its any good/who to purchase a day ticket from.

Yes, there are several stretches of the Thames that are public so you can fish with just a rod licence.
