Couldn't find a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or even Jiu Jitsu specific thread on here so thought I would start one.
So how many BJJ practitioners we got on here?
I started a few weeks ago as have friends who do it in both Gi and No-Gi, to my surprise was awarded my first stripe the other day, I wasn't expecting this till well after 6 months.

My nephew went to his first class at the weekend, and loved it.
It's got me thinking about giving it a whirl. I've always held off starting anything due to working shifts but might see what I can do, as long as they're OK with me having to miss weeks here and there.
Lots of clubs run day time classes as well for people on shifts/work shy etcIt's got me thinking about giving it a whirl. I've always held off starting anything due to working shifts but might see what I can do, as long as they're OK with me having to miss weeks here and there.
I know Mill Hill London do
Traditional Atemi Jujitsu for me, as well as Wado Ryu Karati. Much prefer the Jujitsu as it's much more practical and potentially more useful in real life situations. I like the fact the Sensei's teach you how to avoid trying to use what you have learned if you know what I mean. Yellow belt jujitsu and blue at Wado Ryu.

I miss weeks at a time, which is annoying but shifts come first. It's got me thinking about giving it a whirl. I've always held off starting anything due to working shifts but might see what I can do, as long as they're OK with me having to miss weeks here and there.

Trained many years ago with Mauricio Gomes, got my shoulder pulled apart during class so left it for a while.
Trained on and off since then with Roger, Victor and Braulio but finally gave it up due to the increasing costs, 12 month contract terms and mandatory Barra Gi purchases.
I train under one of Rogers black belt students Kevin Capel.Trained on and off since then with Roger, Victor and Braulio but finally gave it up due to the increasing costs, 12 month contract terms and mandatory Barra Gi purchases.
Yet to meet Roger.

Just noticed that you stopped training as MG and De La Riva are over in the country doing seminars (along with a couple of other names). I trained in Rio once at DLR's gym, was watching him spar with Nick Brooks, and couldnt believe how fluid DLR was, Nick went to take his back and looked like he had it and in the blink of an eye, DLR's taken Nick's back.
