I have recently bought a very good set of Taylormade Burner irons, with the Bubble 2 S90 Plus graphite shafts, and would like to keep the original Taylormade Bubble 2 grips ( I know that there is very little choice as there seems to be only one Yonnex grip that will replace them and the cost is not worth it !) so I would like to revive the originals.
I also realise that they must be about 20 years old, but i really like the Bubble 2 S90s !!

The grips are fine but could do with being a bit more 'tacky'

I am open to useful tips !!

Thanks in advance

Use a bar of hand soap and water to thoroughly clean them. Rinse to remove the soap and rub dry with a towel. The more effort you put in the better the result will be.

Thanks but already done that ...just wondering if there was something more 'aggressive' that would restore the tacky nature of the rubber ?

You can buy tacky grip spray like 'Clean and Tacky' 'Power Grip' etc etc but I use 'Rug Grip Spray', it lasts longer, maybe 10 or 12 rounds and the can never seems to run out, cheap too, about £5.

Apply one coat, allow to dry in the sun or warm room for a couple of hours then spray on another and leave for at least 24 hours, they'll be incredibly tacky (in a good way) when you first use them and you'll feel it when you need to spray them again.

When I was based in India I used to scrub the grips with a wet soapy scotchbright (or similar) pads, rinse off well, towel and leave the clubs out of the bags for a few hours to completely dry. This removed the sweat off the grips and kept them nice and tacky.
