Hire/Buy Concept 2 Ergo.
Discussion
when I looked hiring one it was more per month than Gym membership! the second hand market is good so i'd buy a refurbished one and then have the opportunity to sell it on rather than rent one.

I bought mine from my local rowing club when they were replacing a load of their older versions. These had all been serviced recently, this was good, as second hand from a club usually means they have been used heavily, even so, most parts can be replaced quite easily. A ex-domestic owned ergo would probably be a much better bet though.
I sold it for more than I bought it for 2 yrs later, which maked purchasing over renting a much better proposition but it wasn't too long that it turned into just an expensive rack for my bikes to lean against in the shed.
I still have never been as fit as when I was doing serious rowing training though, a great workout, it's a shame I don't have it any more but bikes and kids started to take priority and I was happy for someone from eBay to pay me £500 and take it away when my eldest arrived.

Google and eBay search would have come up with instant answers to this.
They generally go for £500 on eBay for a used one. You can also rent directly from the manufacturer as well. All the wear and tear bits can easily be replaced. I nearly bought one from my old gym and they came with a load of spare consumables. I remember the feet straps would wear out quite quickly.
