Morning All,
Can I just go on record as saying England are st, We won't win anything with Cook as captain. The Mighty Hammer of Justice is past it, and can no longer get it off the square. The pitches are too slow and Jimmy A is no longer the best bowler in the world. We have no spinner and whilst we are at it Prior is an old man and isn't up to it anymore.
Thank you.

I think not having a first choice spinner will really impact us in the long run. No variation and you cannot expect Ali or Root to bowl 25-30 overs between them.
We end up with the 4 quicks running in bowling the same stuff.
Wonder if Adil Rashid or Azeem Rafik will get to play for England. We end up with the 4 quicks running in bowling the same stuff.
Another dull pitch, designed to ensure that five days of cricket occur, but to annoy as many fans as possible so that they are less likely to want to spend lots of money on a ticket in the future. I hate such shortsightedness.
If anyone is in the vicinity, can they give Monty a good hard slap. Then slap him a bit more.

I understand that the pitch situation is probably more an unintended consequence of the new under pitch drainage systems that have been fitted to all test venues. These fast draining systems have made it much more difficult to get a "character" pitch or keep pace in the pitch. If anyone is in the vicinity, can they give Monty a good hard slap. Then slap him a bit more.
I agree though we should be using home advantage.

Not sure how much difference more grass on the wicket would have made?
Hard to say of course until both sides have batted, England look quite brittle at the moment so you wouldn't be too confident of them breezing a steady 400 in reply. Especially as I am sure this wicket will take spin on day three onwards.
India are going to post 500+ here, so lets hope Cook can remember how to bat. Vijay by the way has played a beautiful test innings here. Lovely effortless batting.

ECB needs five day pitches. Agree we should be preparing green wickets with our seam attacks.
as someone on TMS said yesterday - might have been vaughnie - this is a chief exec's pitch. 5 days of cricket, 5 days of crowds.I'm a bit torn here tbh - we see so many 3 and 4 day matches at test level I have no problem with a 5 day pitch, that said however it should offer "something" to bowlers and batsmen alike.
alternatively the england attack might "shock horror" have to work something out for itself.
there seems to be over recent series an almost unshakable faith in off stump line with the odd short ball - seam attack line and lentght hoping it will swing or move off the seam.
its not good enough, there needs to be imho much more variation of pace - jimmy took a wicket yesterday with an off cutter slower delivery - not enough of that kind of variety for me at all.
also to a degree arguments about the pitch are irrelevant until both teams have batted or bowled on it.
its a 5 day match.
could be ideal for cooky to get a big knock and restore his confidence for a puch on in the rest of the series.

I agree with you though that they need to offer more variation, and that's where having a true spin option gives that variation, ties up an end and can force wickets. With 4 quick's that pretty bowl the same then once the batsman is set the batsman is set.
