Big JW fan but thank fk he's retiring the shear amount of rhetoric and man love shown to him had me reaching for the vom bucket....
Anyhow the match, not very good in performance and the atmosphere seemed very flat? Confirmed by my cousin who was there.
After the defensive beasting Sarries showed in the semis I thought they'd fair better but were ultimately out muscled again. Both teams could be called one dimensional but Toulon stopped Sarries in their tracks and won the battle of the break down easily. Sarries didn't seem to have much other than relying on poor Billy V to truck it in time and time again.
Some very good play from Toulon for their trys, for a team of mercs they seemed hungrier and wanted it more than Sarries IMO.

Poor Billy V kept running into Armitage thats why! What a player he has become this season, either the best no 8 or 7 in the world currently depending on which shirt he pulls on! He would walk into every club or international side in the world atm except England because of policy. Daft in this case. Must be a shoe in for player of the yr.

Agree about Armitage, has been very good for a few seasons now and has been immense this season. I liked how the camera kept cutting to SL shortly after SA did something goo-which was often.I have mixed feelings about the whole selection policy, on one hand in SA case he knew the policy so if was that arsed about playing for England he wouldn't have extended his deal at Toulon. I don't personally see the big issue with playing overseas based players really, there is surely a big enough pool of English players that there'll always be good English players play in England.
I think the trouble is compounded by 7 & 8. We all know the debate around Robshaw, Morgan and Billy have their own domestic rivalry. I think the best way would be SA being a bench impact selection. Or we could see Armitage doing a reverse Welsh/Irish and being a high profile signing. Back over here but protected from the Prem.

He must be the only Englishman that gets cheered/adored by the French!Anyhow the match, not very good in performance and the atmosphere seemed very flat? Confirmed by my cousin who was there.
