Running Trainers
Discussion
Hi
I try and run 2 or 3 miles every other day, however my old Nikes ( not for running ) are not only knackered but also aren't doing my knees and hips any favours due to their lack of support etc
Therefore I'm looking for a pair that will offer this, any recommendations would be very much appreciated.
Cheers

Go to a running shop, get fitted, buy the ones that fit. They will get you to try various pairs with different heel to toe drop distances for example, some with structure in the arch, some without, most probably using a video camera and a treadmill. its too risky to go to jd sports and buy some that look good based on a recommendation from a stranger in the internet if you plan to increase the mileage. what woorks for me might be hell for you.
Thorlo socks though, everytime!

Definitely echo the above. I have struggled with bad ankles for years and lots of pain in the legs. Saw a podiatrist and found out I am a sever overpronator
Visited a shop to discuss and bought motion control shoes and am now running 5k a few times a week and booked in to do my first 10k in July (and I am a hefty prop forward)
The difference from the right shoes is HUGE and it's the best thing I ever did This knowledge is allowing me to get back to training and getting fitter and healthier whereas I ended up at over 20 stone through lack of exercise due to the leg pain!!

Don't worry about it. They'll have seen all sorts over the years. It's about getting the right shoes for you. Allow a good half hour or so and expect to have to run a little bit.Cheers
Sweatshop are good. Loads of stores and well established www.sweatshop.co.uk North Finchley looks closest
I like www.runandbecome.com in Victoria. They don't do Treadmills. It's up and down outside the shop.
Runners Need. I went to the Liverpool St one years ago, and they said I needed motion control instead of neutral. Maybe I was just unlucky with the staff member
