Hi guys, I'm a member of a sports club which is not doing the best job of communicating with members. Sometimes we unintentionally exclude new members from event annoucements and so forth. Our new Membership Secretary is doing a better job of compiling the members list with all details but we do need to centralise it a bit and allow other members to use the email list promote events to members, notifying of meetings and so forth.

I get the feeling that this is something that has been solved before many times at clubs around the country.

I've had a look around the 'net and there are some sites that promise to manage these things for you (eg teamer) but similarly that does seem like a lot more support than we need. Perhaps even just a managed email list would suffice.

We have a few older members who organise a lot of things and I wouldn't want to pressure them to be signing up for sites or advanced database stuff.

I'm looking for advice or recommendations from others in the same situation; what have you used?

Our village newsletter is managed using Mailchimp. Not used it myself but they seem pleased with it.

We have the same problem with our school PA helper list, it's in Excel at the moment but I know we miss people so I've started to look at these as well. Not made the jump yet though.

Thanks!
I had a look deeper into teamer and while it looks like a fine piece of software it seems a bit too much for our needs. It also encourages members to sign up by emailing them and I don't want to push that onto members. I just want them to receive email from us and have more of a passive management tool.
