I am doing the Fleet Half Marathon on March 16th and i'm not too sure what I should be wearing on top if the wether decides to take a turn for the worse.
When I am running early morning or late at night in this temperature I usually wear a running t shirt, with a running jacket (lightweight) over the top. If I get too hot I just undo the jacket a bit.
On the day should I be wearing a long sleeve t shirt? If it is chucking it down I will be freezing in just a short sleeve shirt won't I?
What are these compression tops I keep seeing?
What do your recommend then?
Cheers
Eric

My usual kit for winter tennis:
-wicking t-shirt
-fleece top
-running jacket/wind cheater (very thin layer).

As I get hot, I vent heat by unzipping fleece top and running jacket. If you're running at a constant pace, you probably don't need the fleece top. In tennis, the activity can go from mild moving around to lung bursting. If it's dry, I stuff the jacket in a pocket. The wind cheater should keep the rain at bay unless it's a torrential downpour.

I have this jacket: http://amzn.to/1hlJbrg

T-shirt with separate arm covers (they're a bit like tubigrips but I can't remember what they're called) is a good alternative as you can roll the sleeves down when you get hot.

I was at the Reading half last weekend and pretty much everyone was wearing t-shirts or singlets, despite it being cold enough I was in my quilted jacket spectating. My Mrs started with arm tubes on and gave them to me at 5 miles, and she feels the cold.

Wear a binliner with holes for head and arms to start with and throw it away once you warm up.

Reading last year it pissed it down and people in cotton t-shirts looked pretty cold, but those in proper wicking tops were a lot warmer.

Spare a thought for the marshals at Fleet as we won't be moving around as much to keep warm biggrin

Good tip!
At the Man 10k last year they were giving out transparent versions, very useful! The day was very changy last year. Sunny, windy, chilly, warm, wet, dry...stupid weather.
