I'm just about to start lessons to learn how to snowboard. I'm already a pretty able Skier.
I'm going to be using the gear provided but would like to buy me own boots instead of using the hired boots.
Is there any thing I should look out for. I've not a club when it comes to snowboarding gear.
Any recommendations for a set of boots? £100ish budget?

Snowboarding is super easy (if you can skateboard). So perhaps learn to skate if you can't already and not too old to take the falls. Otherwise get some wrist/cox/knee guards to save some pain.

I got myself a pair of Burton Moto's when i first started out, pretty solid boot, 10 weeks later they are still going strong.

just had a look at current prices and these are reduced to £75, cant go wrong with that

  • *EDIT*** these are limited sizes, hence the cheap price but you can probably get a pair between £100-£120 in the right size! biggrin
I spent £200 on a DC board and £120 on bindings. Im happy with all my gear and 10x better than any rentals ive had!

what size are you OP?

ive been boarding for 18 months and have 4 pairs of boots - i'm not very good at trying before buying! finally settled on some DC Scout Boa's nice and comfy with enough flex for my (slightly dodgy) riding style.

i would take some time to visit a shop and take some guidance! would have saved myself a lot of money.

got a bit of an issue with the other gear too. cant buy enough.

Somewhere between a 8-9 depending on brand.
I've thankfully live close enough to Xscape Castleford to make trying before buying worth while.
