This shows how fit (or not) you really are!

I thought I was in fairly good shape as I do a fair bit of cycling and swimming but I can only manage about a 1 1/2 minutes before needing a break. Apparently very fit people can do 10 minutes easily?!

I have a feeling this is the most underrated exercise about. Its virtually free and takes no time at all (for me anyway).

I do thirty to forty minutes every other day, been doing it for about ten years though, one of those things that looks dead easy till you try it, one of the most underrated cardio excercises, one of the reasons boxers are so fit.

top tip.... never mind those wishy washy little thin ones get a bloody big heavy duty leather rope(about the same thickness as a marker pen) then revel in the shoulder burn you experience. you can't throw it round as fast as the thin plastic ones but by christ a few weeks of that and you will see your punch power increase somewhat!

Yup leather rope with weighted handles for me, none of this speed rope malarkey, though to be fair I am still pretty quick with a heavy rope, can't do any tricks though.

Whenever I've tried doing it I have this terrible urge to duck at the same time as jumping.

Not sure if I've invented some sort of super abdo crunch exercise because I always end up tripping over the damn rope after a couple of (much too high!) hops.

However, would like to retry it to get fitter for footie but on a serious note - where do you guys skip? Feel foolish doing it outside (for obvious reasons!) but indoors I always found the rope would hit the ceiling.

Skipping + me = spectacular fail. bounce -> headache -> irked -> grumpy

Wherever there is ceiling space, cargo room on ships ( I work offshore) in the gym, in the dance studio of the gym, the underground carpark in the hotel, very occasionly outside if no wind anywherd there is space, only neec about 7ft clearance.

Not in one go I assume!? How do you break it up? (eg 2 minute break after 5 mins skipping)

It has a noticeable effect on this?
