How many threads on Pistonheads start with "the search is down"

Anyone planning to go the Commonwealth Games next year?

Just started looking at the ticket purchasing process, will be interesting to see if "Lessons have been learnt" from the London Olympics.

Looking to apply for tickets to the track cycling and athletics - probably the two most popular choices I would imagine

Can apply for tickets on the 19th August I think, through the official site.

Although interest will not be as high as for the Olympics, premium events will go to a ballot as per 2012 which is hardly surprising when you think that the Commonwealth still includes Australia, NZ, Canada and Malaysia and thats a lot of the Worlds best track cyclists competing in Glasgow. As far as athletics goes, the Commonwealth includes most of the Caribbean and a good number of African Countries it should be pretty eventful... Manchester 2002 was great fun and Glasgow has a lot to live up to.

With a bit of luck, I'll be there as a "games maker" in some capacity, though knowing my luck it will be parking cars in Glasgow city centre as the court order prevents me from being any closer to Jess Ennis...

Not made my ticket applications yet - anyone else been able to get through today?

I'm assuming there are 4 weeks to get the applications in, and so its not critical to apply today?

Nope, they aren't going to do anything until the closing date - applications in the 1st 10 mins are as likely to get tickets as those in the last 10 minutes.

Only fair way I guess, the website has been down/suffering massive delays today.

Applied for 2 x men's 5,000m tickets (£30 ones) and 2 x men's 10,000m tickets (again, £30 ones). If I'm out of luck then I think I'll try and get along to the marathon which is free.
