Any rowing experts?
Discussion
I've been on the rowing machine at the gym a couple of times and been a bit random about what I do. Yesterday I did a 5km programme and averaged about 2:10 per 500m and did the whole lot in about 21 mins.
Is that any good?
Felt OK after but have big blister on my hand. No other negative affects.

That's good if you've just started. A really good benchmark is to do it in 20min i.e. row at 2.00 per 500m.
You can make pretty good gains with rowing by addressing technique....one thing that can make a big difference is your breathing and pace. Kind of depends on what physique you are but I found slowing down by rpm to low 20's from high 20's worked well for me.....by doing that I could take a big old lung full of air in on every stroke rather than "hyper ventilating".
Of course professionals row in the mid 30's rpm.....no fukin clue how they do that!
