Best place to sit at a baseball game?

HI all,
I'm off to Phoenix in 6 weeks and would like to treat myself and two mates to a baseball game. Here is a screen shot of where we can can sit (grey is unavailable). I wouldn't mind being right behind the plate, but at $500 they're a bit steep!
I hope i've put this thread in the right section!
It depends what you are going there for. From my limited attendance at games, most people are there to eat/drink/socialise...there just happens to be a game going on. If you want to really watch the game I'd guess being as close to home plate as you can get/want to spend.
If you want any chance of catching a ball i'd suggest somewhere along the foul ball lines.
I'm sure there are much more knowledgable people who can help out though.

Who knows if it has 'your' team though
ETA In case you didn't get it, your picture is of the LA Dodgers stadium.

I know it's not the same stadium but I went to a game at the Yankee's stadium about 9 years ago during Fleet Week. We sat in the bleacher seats and had a good view of what was going on. Mind you, most of us left after about 3 hours as it was dull as. It's not a very exciting game I'm afraid. The pre-game atmosphere in the various bars was fantastic though.
Yes, baseball is similar to cricket in that respect. It can be quite a long game and on several nights/days a week, so it is quite a sociable thing, with people up and down for food quite a lot. I imagine the price of the ticket probably gives a good indication of how good the view is. Generally speaking, I would want to be next to the line from home base to 1st. Except if I were in Boston, where I have always wanted to sit way up on the Green Monster wall.
I love me some baseball.
In my experience it doesnt really matter where you sit. As many have already said, there is a big social aspect to the game. You'll probably find that you can walk around at the main concourse level and still be able to see what is going on. If you're flush, then sure, sitting behind home plate or in the lower sections (In line with 1st or 3rd base) is great. But I've had as much fun if not more up in the cheap seats. You get to experience it with the real everyday fans rather than the corporate seats. Most stadiums are no bigger then 35-40,000 seaters and even up in the nosebleeds you'll have a great view of what is going on. Okay, you wont be able to tell if someone threw a ball or a strike but it doesnt really matter.
As a good comprimise, there are normally reasonable seats at the "north" of a stadium layout - ie opposite home plate and watching from behind the pitcher.
