No Powell (cheating),
No Gay (cheating),
No Blake (injured),
No Rudisha (injured),
No Dobriskey (injured)

No Idowu (WTF?)

Question marks over:
Rutherford (injury)
Tomlinson (no A standard)
Jess Ennis (injury)

Dasaolu is looking strong for the 100m but is he likely to beat Bolt? The only other contender really is former drugs cheat Gatlin, whom I can't stand. Don't get me wrong I want Bolt to win but at least want him challenged.

Womens high jump should be a good battle between Blanka Vlasic, Chantille Lowe and the Russian whose name I've forgotten.

Womens 3000m S/C should be a strong race with some good British interest.

Mens 5k and 10k will be very exciting.

Yes that is a good point, both will be good.

I assume Lavillenie is in the pole vault as he has been looking very good in the Diamond League.

Because she was guilty of one thing and took her punishment. You are accusing her of something else. Which pretty much goes against my notions of natural justice, and doing it just because you have suspicions of something else based on nothing other than cynicism.

In other words Tonks, you are being a . In the world of being a cynical contemptuous SOB, trust me, it takes one to know one.

It clearly is different to the drink driving laws.

One is a random test, the other is done on suspicion of a breach of the law.

Chicherova.

I love Vlasic, she is feisty!

It is a lot different. The whereabouts rules are very, very hard to follow. Would you be able to pick, for the next year, a single hour where you will be available during the day to be tested? And keep the testers updated if there are any changes? I think one time the track she was meant to train on was closed when she arrived so she just went to another local one, but the testers turned up then and that's one missed test down.

On the subject matter I don't think the WC's will be boring, the men's 5k and 10k will be intriguing, as will the men's 800m. In the men's TJ you have two guys who could go beyond 18m, high jumpers approaching the WR, Blessing Okagbare has a chance of doing the 100m/LJ double, Defar and Dibaba will hopefully go head to head over 10k and 5k and Lavillene is always a good watch.

You just have to look a little past the men's 100m/200m.

Some other athletes manage it quite well, others don't. Apparently there are more on two missed tests than you would think. It's worth reading Tom Fordyce's views as he went on the whereabouts system for a while, and he found that there were several times when he could have absent-mindedly picked up a missed test.

When CO missed her tests she would have hardly been earning a fortune as she was not very well known, all of her major successes on the world stage came after her missed tests. Also, in terms of sorting someone else to do it, especially after two, she only had a month between her last two missed tests.

Well, I pretty much sat through the whole day of the World Athletics coverage yesterday and it was pretty good, topped of by F-ing amazing from Fly Mo!

My only complaint so far, wtf was Dasaolu doing!

More good stuff today, mens 100m heats and final tonight, women's long jump an 10k.

I watched it on and off all yesterday, was doing my own training, and the biggest thing I noticed was how empty the stadiums are? Are the world championships always this deserted or have I just been spoilt by the Olympics and he anniversary games?

I agree with you there, she seems to know nothing about athletics and her chit chat is just crap. J Edwards is doing a great job and even Paula is getting better (nice legs too).

+ 1 and + 1 biggrin

Jonathan Edwards has been great, I like his relax style; is he new being an anchor? I can’t remember seeing him as anchor before.

Donovan Bailey is a nice new addition to the BBC team; Michael Johnson’s analysis has always been great but at times his style is a bit too dry for me. Bailey brings a bit more humour.

I love Michael Johnson, I'm always surprised he's not on the panel of American sports shows rather than the BBC as he offers so much, he might not be entertaining but he's incredibly knowledgable and puts that knowledge and opinions across really well.

I think Edwards is anchor for the early morning slots. He should get the job permanently. Bailey is good and talks a lot of sense, Johnson will be back shortly though. I like his dry tell it how it is attitude.

I don't know why you were quarrelling about this; there's not a single top athlete not on the juice. Simple as that.
