Twickenham bound
Discussion
I'm off to HQ in a couple of hours to watch my lad lead his team onto the pitch in a cup match:

Got to say that I'm really quite excited. I thought I would be all laid back and calm but no chance. We're champions and are promoted to level 6 for next season so it's been a tremendous year but this, I have to say, is the peak for me.
My lad has led and England under 19s team against a Welsh side, but this is Twickers.

Congrats. Hope he makes you proud, (which he clearly already has!)

Thanks for the good wishes and nice thoughts.
We won, but it was an exciting match. The losers, Bridlington, are a good team and took it very well. 'Old fashioned rugby team' with all that that implies about taking loses with victories. The match was sporting with an excellent ref - hardly noticed him, and if there's one thing better than your son carrying the trophy it is your son scoring the final try.
And:
I am emotionally drained.

My elder daughter came along, as did all my kids, and she decided to make a day of it shopping in town. She got out at the underground station and followed the crowds only to be told, when she presented her ticket: This is the Stoop. You want the stadium on the other side of the road.

Brilliant, hope you enjoyed it! Was at twickers for the first time last weekend for the army v navy match, hell of an atmosphere and a lovely pitch
Thanks for that. The atmosphere is all but overwhelming. And as the the pitch! If you can't play good rugby on that you must be one of a front five. There's a report on the RFU website (which just happens to have my lad avoiding a tackle before scoring his try).
