My daughter is looking for a single scull.
She's 14 and has been rowing for 4 and a bit years.
She currently rows at Marlow and is enjoying success in the sport.
There is an opportunity to buy a Wintech boat, which I think is a "Competitor" model. Can anyone advise if there are particular points to look out for?
Thanks.

Make sure it is the right size for her and check whether it has been repaired at any point. In itself a repair is not an issue but it will tend to make the boat a little heavier. Obviously check the fittings like riggers are all in good condition.

I assume you know Wintech are German designed, Chinese-made boats, the UK distributor is Oarsport in Nottingham who have been very helpful whenever I have dealt with them. Their "Competitor" is the second from bottom in a 4 model range.

My club has a number of Wintechs and I scull a Competitor from time to time. I think they are decent boats, easy to sit, run well, but a little heavy.

Have you/she looked at other boats just for comparison? There are a number of sales sites for rowing boats.
