The only time you would need a rod licence is when you are fishing in fresh water, just need to keep that is mind when you are travelling upstream from the sea, as at some point it will turn to fresh water.

As said, no license, unless you catch trout or salmon.

There are minimum keep sizes though. Find your area here.

I'm not sure why but I couldn't find a definitive answer anywhere else, or at least not one that i trusted.

It's a 'licence' not a 'license'....a subtle difference but one that must be pointed out! wink
