Wales vs England 16th March
Discussion
Hi All,
Im heading down to Cardiff for the Wales vs England game on the 16th March, but wanted some advice on transport.
Currently looking at getting the train from Reading straight to Cardiff which is around £60 return, but due to the game being in the evening limits the trains coming back.
Are there any other ways of getting down? Supporters Coaches? Im going down on my own to meet friends so dont fancy driving.

When I went to the olympic quarter finals, the best way in and out of cardiff is by train. I would recommend staying overnight if possible to avoid coming back on hellish trains. Failing that, get a train to Bristol and then go to Reading from there. Otherwise, again, I recommend staying over night.
I'll second nephilim.
I went to the Olympic Bronze Medal match there, it was an evening fixture and the queue to get on the trains afterwards took about 2 hours. If it's anything like that, you don't wanna be in it. I'd tried to drive to the stadium (from Reading, where I live, as it goes), but encountered such bad traffic on the M4 that I ditched the car at Bristol Parkway and got on a train. I'd have missed the match if I hadn't.

From Reading too.
Honestly stay over & drive instead it will be half the cost of said train ticket leaving room for accomodation costs.
Try getting a train after the game and you'll be lucky - note the trains stop pretty early too on Sat night heading East so be warned you can get stranded a b&b problem solved.

A little trick which may be of some use.....
Drive to a station just out side the city, Llanishen for example, park up, £3 return to Cardiff central. Leave the stadium after Wales win go for a pint or some food to kill an hour and let the crowds leave then jump on the train back to your car!!
Simples!
On another note, how the bloody hell did you get a ticket? I have 4 for every home game no problems and this time I just can not get hold of any Saying that though, can't believe they were £75 for mediocre seats at the Ireland game on Saturday.

Thanks All. Looking at the trains again last night and the last one I could get is 9pm, ideally I would get the direct train at 8.30 back to reading at a cost of £62.
I would have thought petrol and b&b on my tod will certainly cost more?
Tickets are through my supplier, as I think they get some coporate deals.

Seriously a big risk is you'll not be able to go on the train as in too much demand for the available capacity. Sure a b&b plus fuel will be more than a train. I would have thought petrol and b&b on my tod will certainly cost more?

Game finished 7pm that means realistically you'll be out of the stadium maybe 7:30pm earliest maybe 7:45/50pm. The last train you need is 8:30pm..... If the train is full you will not be allowed on plus a full intercity takes only 800..... I'm guessing there is what 10 trains between end of match and last train to London of which realistically people will only be able to hop into let's be generous 8 of them. Stadium is 74k possibly 33% will be French many of whom will be catching said train back east too.
B&b is safe option as you can try to find one when you are there good luck.
Or drive there and back stay dry / crash at your mates place
