Six Nations 2013
Discussion
So, heres the leaked England Squad: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/six-nati...
Heres Englands fixtures:
v Scotland 2 February (h)
v Ireland 10 February (a)
v France 23 February (h)
v Italy 10 March (h)
v Wales 16 March (a)
I've applied for tickets for the France game through my club so fingers crossed, I was lucky enough to get NZ tickets though!
Have to say this is a good year for Italy, with the implosion of Scotland and Wales. Have to see England as the favourites, hope we can perform as well as we did against NZ.

I see France as the favourites, no particular reason why, they just seem to be going about their business at the moment and no one is talking about them too much.
Scotland will get an upset against someone, could be anyone. Scott Johnson will change thing up and hopefully will get the best out of Tim Visser who (IMO) the best winger in the British Isles at the moment.
This could be the year Ireland transfer club form to the national team, if so we’d all better watch out, if not they will need to transplant a Kidney.
Italy will be same old same old.
Wales, er… Howleycaust is on the cards. No Gatland. Limited loose head and hooker options. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice second row are all injured. Dan Lydiate will have around 40min of rugby under his belt over the past 6 months. 1/2p, Doc, North, Liam Williams, Hook all returning from injury. Who is going to play fly half, Hook or Biggar? Two different styles of play, which one will be best for Wales?
England will be very dangerous, their game is becoming very complete. Although I think they could come undone if they get over confident. Also, if a couple of certain players pick up injuries early on they could become a very avaerage international team.

Should be a cracking tournament. Too close to call I think...Wales will be very keen to put the autumn behind them and England prove that the AB's game was the dawn of a new era...I certainly hope it is! French still the team to beat though..>England have them at home.
England should be in a much better place than they were a year ago simply because so many of these players have got a year of international Rugby under their belts when they pretty much had zero this time last year. Time to push on but there are still big questions over the midfield especially....be very interesting to see who they go with at 10 for starters.

Whilst we have what promises to be an England revival in progress we should remember is it wasn't so long ago that Wales fulfilled some of their promises and now look at them. They are down with Scotland and Italy fighting for the wooden spoon we think.
It is the England side that is in the ascendant but the New Zealand victory should not blind us to the previous two matches. I think it will be a titanic struggle between England, France and Ireland.
It should be a great 6 Nations and I'm looking forward to it. There are some new faces improving their ability on the pitch for England.

Should be a cracking 6N (but then again they all are).
England - Will be on a high from beating NZ but this new found confidence is still very brittle. Just one slip up will send them tumbling. Potential winners but on the flip side also potential 4th place.
Ireland - As ever will be a stong test for anyone. Contenders
Scotland - Despite the Scots claiming half their team are lions they've got no chance. Possible wooden spoon.
France - Could storm the competition or look rubbish, won't know until the day comes but they are my tip to win the thing.
Italy - No chance. Fighting with the Scots to avoid peice of wood!
Wales - I'm not bothered by poor autumn internationals, 6N is always a different beast. 3 slams in last 7 years says it all. Despite massive injury list still Contenders. On seperate note WHEN Wales beat England the nations will be tied at 56 wins each!
BRING IT ON!

Wales seem to struggle for consistency. They tend to alternate good-poor-good-poor for 6 nations.
Some argue that they will be smarting from the Autumn and there will be a backlash. Surely after the Samoa defeat they should have been smarting? - It isn't that simple.
You cannot rule Wales out but they seem to have been disrupted by Gatland's Lions duties.
England played very well during the Autumn. They played all the rugby v Australia and S. Africa, it's just their discipline and excecution that was left wanting. That was in place against (an admittedly below par) All Blacks.
IF and it is always a big if, England can keep it going, a first slam in a decade could and should be theirs.

Team Cymru announced. Debutant at lock aside, that looks a strong side. Good to see we've gone for Shingler at 6. Only Howley's vast incompetence stands between us and another surefire GS.
Leigh Halfpenny, Alex Cuthbert, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, George North,
Dan Biggar, Mike Phillips; Gethin Jenkins, Matthew Rees, Adam Jones,
Andrew Coombs, Ian Evans, Aaron Shingler, Sam Warburton (C), Toby Faletau
REPLACEMENTS: Ken Owens, Paul James, Craig Mitchell, Olly Kohn,
Justin Tipuric, Lloyd Williams, James Hook, Scott Williams.

I'm struggling to think of a former Welsh legend that I now harbour such an intense dislike for. More questions raised about his selection strategy IMO. No way is Ian Evans going to be match-fit at international level and picking Coombes over Kohn is just beyond me. Biggar is the form 10 though I suppose.I'm actually looking foward to the Blues game more than the Wales one
I put in for the cheapest available tickets through our club ballot as always, on the basis that there really isn't a bad seat in the house at Twickenham, and got two £43 pound tickets for the Scotland game tomorrow.
They're in the second row of the lower stand on the halfway line!?!? How on earth were these the cheapest tickets in the house?
Anyway, as victors this weekend, I'm going with Ireland, England and France, and I reckon the overall finishing order (with nobody taking the slam) will be as follows:
England
France
Ireland
Wales
Italy
Scotland
Roll on tomorrow!
