I want a medium sized golf bag.

95% of the time I use a bag on a trolley but occasionaly
I need to carry when there's a trolley ban.

I don't want two dedicated bags.

I've looked at a few stand bags but the 'foot' that actuates
the legs when you put the bag down doesn't appear to fit well on a trolley;
the weight of the bag is mostly where the foot joins the trolley and is trying to open the legs all the time, and I suspect something would break.

Is there such a thing as a stand bag that can be used well with a trolley?

Have a look at this, the base looks like it goes some way to solving the usual problem

A normal stand bag which has a strap or such thing to keep the legs in will be fine. My Titleist bag does fine on my motocaddy.

Thanks for the ideas; that Motocaddy looks good.
I will have a look at Titleist too, it's just that the fixing at the base of the Taylormade stand bag that I considered looked vulnerable with constant trolley use and I assumed they would all be a similar design.

Can't you just use hedgehog wheels on your trolley?

Sometimes I play at a place in the winter that says no to all trolleys ( winter wheels or not) and I take an empty 'camping chair' bag - fill with a driver, 7 iron and putter. Jacket pockets full of balls, a few tees, card and pencil biggrin

Doesn't weigh much at all...and adds to the fun if you're all reduced to only carrying 3 clubs.

It is always faintly depressing when I play in a golf day with someone using a lightweight 6" bag with a driver, 2 irons, 1 wedge and a 30year old putter, and they score more, lose less balls and seem tireless. I look at my Motocaddy trolly with 36 hole lithium battery, heavy bag, driver to 5 wood, rescue wood, irons and extra wedges, lord knows how many bally, tees, jumpers, windstoppers and general junk I have.

Seems to me that all that gear means I can belt a ball 100's of yards into the trees like I have a bazooka and ze Germans are hiding there.

The times I have used my light bag with a handful of clubs I have had a briliant time. I can personify 'all the gear, no idea'! Either way, I have fun.

I have always found carry bags to be faintly unsatisfactory when using a trolly to be honest. Until I got the Motocaddy I always carried with a nice light stand bag keeping what was in that bag to a minimum, unlike now.

Modern 'carry' bags are still to heavy I find.

I have one with the feet but it is on a golf cart most of the time.

Last 2 UAE order of merit events I've played have been carrying only so I just bought a Taylormade pencil bag, has enough pockets for all my gear (granted I never need waterproofs but a jumper/top would fit).

With a double shoulder strap it honestly feels like carrying nothing, well worth the 40ish quid it cost, would be my recommendation and they take up no room in the house when not in use.
