Good time for gun buying?

I've been looking for my first o/u shotgun for a couple of weeks now, used Beretta, Browning or Miroku, and have noticed that there isn't really a great deal of choice at the moment. Also there seems to be next to no movement on price from either dealers or private sellers.

So I'm thinking maybe the run up to Christmas is not the best time to be doing this.

My question; is there traditionally a pick up in the used market immediately after Christmas, toward the end of game season in February or does the timing make no difference?

Don't think mark ups are huge on new guns, 2nd hand maybe slightly higher. Guess it depends what you're after, if it's a popular gun they know they'll sell it anyway.

Would say that you are definitely buying in a peak of the year - middle of the game season, just before Christmas.

British Shooting Show in February has quite a few good deals

Bought my Miroku in September, no discount, but got a free sleeve and 50 cartridges

Might be worth hanging on for a visit to Stoneleigh next year then.

Not noticed much of a seasonal market in guns myself, apart from the one-off opportunities like shows etc.

I'm sure you know of guntrader.co.uk but I mention just in case not.

Cheers but I think I could probably list the current guntrader/gunwatch/gunstar stock in the surrounding counties verbatim at the moment
