Hi all, I need to purchase a reasonably priced chipper for a Christmas present for my dad. Is there a brand that is particularly good, don't have a huge budget maybe 25quid tops. Or is it a case of a cheap Dunlop from sports direct? Thanks

Buy a chipping net instead for about that much and tell him to practice in the garden with a 7 iron in a putting action.

Or use a pitching wedge and make sure the hands are in front of the ball. so you hit the back of the ball and NOT try and get under the ball

Always do this for 15 minutes before a round of golf, difficult to practice at home as you do not get the run of the ball on the greens, but what you can do at home is just aim to land the ball near a mark, dont worry what happens to the ball, just get use to judging small distances to land the ball on

Well apparently he has a net already and wants a chipper instead of using an iron! Though he threw another option into the ring of a 62-64degree wedge, so am looking at those now too.

That's fair enough. I know people who carry them in their bag and swear by them!.

Those are very flat wedges! I gave my 62 degree to my son as I found it an ideal club for hitting a ball 150yards dead straight 12" above the ground. I use a 60 degree mizuno now which has the sdame ability to do that, just not with the same frequency.

Ah golf, if its going wrong, buy something new. smile

Basic one from sports direct should do the trick
