Looking at taking the other half on a pheasant shoot or deer stalking day, neither of us have a FAC, does anyone know how I should go about it or know any places that cater for non shooters?

we are in Manchester so closer to home the better but a naughty weekend could be made out of it ...

No need for a FAC for stalking, you use their rifle under supervision

You would probably need to go to Scotland

The season is pretty long, but most places seem to do limited numbers of weeks within each season

I went in early October and it was the first of 3 weeks deer stalking for that estate.

Where to go depends on how much you want to spend, the stags were included in my 1 week at a lodge, but other places will charge specifically for them - £200-500 per stag approximately

This was the first web site I found http://www.deerstalkingscotland.co.uk/ with info on it

For pheasants www.gunsonpegs.co.uk has lists of days available

You could go as a beater on a pheasant, partridge or grouse day.....

Being a gun is moderately expensive, being a beater would cost nothing. Depends what you want to see and do really.

You need to talk to the gamekeeper of an estate. I would be tempted to go and see him rather than trying by phone. The vast majority of gamekeepers are very relaxed and easygoing people, explain that perhaps you don't expect to be paid as you've not done it before, but that you're enthusiastic and sensible! I'm sure most estates would be glad of extra help.
