No thread for the sport of kings and allegedly the greatest racehorse of all time?

Im not entirely sure I agree with that assessment myself, I tend towards the jumpers being better, but surely going for 14 out of 14 and his final race coming up in the richest race in Europe I would have thought would attract some comments on here?

I know we have a cpl of nag nag fanciers from the Gold Cup days.

Alot has been made of this saturdays "last ever run of Frankel", it's chucking it down at the moment, i wonder if they'll pull him out if it gets too soft.

Tickets sold out for Ascot, i'll be an armchair fan then.

I'll try and get back here and post up my saturday picks, i actually had a winner last weekend, Fulbright.

I've never seen anything quite like Frankel's run in the Guineas last year - neither has my father who has been watching the racing for 50 years - he was simply incredible.

Ratings-wise he's a stone ahead of his rivals tomorrow, and there are some very very good horses in the race - I hope he wins, and fully expect him to do so.

See the Household Cavalry wore his colours this morning for their exercise - nice touch smile

Three cheers for Henry Cecil too tomorrow I think, an absolute gentleman who deserved a horse like this.

Just a shame he was never tested at the Arc or the Derby.

True, but I'm not going to argue with Henry.

I think he'd have stayed the mile and a half, his sire Galileo did and I think the sam side had plenty of stamina too.

It was good to see Excelebration win well at the weekend too - he's a beauty of a horse who has been rather beaten up by Frankel, and I hope he beats the Yanks at the Breeders Cup next month.

The best of the best has retired.

Kauto Star has been retired according to Paul Nicholls.

Never really felt the love for Frankel as Ive alluded to earlier in this thread, but Kauto...that's a horse. Best of all time for me and that includes Rum.

One of my favorite races. The commentary coming down the final stretch is fantastic too!

Yes. Outlasted him and came back and beat him. And Long Run.

Kauto was Daley Thompson combined with Bolt.

Just had 30mins of watching Gold Cups and KGVI on Youtube. Best of all time.

It was the longevity and diversity of Kauto Star's career. 2 Gold Cups, 6 King George's...add in Tingle Creeks, Betfair Chases....2m, 2m4f, 3m, 3m2f...... In 2006/07 he won the Betfair, Tingle Creek, King George and Gold Cup....from 2m to 3m2f.......

And he retires as the top staying chaser around!!! Marvellously handled by Paul Nicholls and his team at Ditcheat.
