Up the Alpe d'Huez, down a road that isn't even properly surfaced at the moment, then back up the Alpe d'Huez - fine. Awesome, even: I'd love to go. But as the final stage?
I know that recently the organisers have been trying to stop the final stage turning into an extended champagne-fuelled warm-down, but surely the size of the crowds they get at the grand finale is reason enough to keep it in Paris?

Rumours I've seen is that the D'Huez stage is 18 of 21, Paris finish as usual.
e.g. Here: http://www.velopeloton.com/2013_tour_de_france_rou... Also on the Dauphine website.
All confirmed on Oct 24th anyway.

It would make it less likely that the GC and KotM were decided before the finish therefore keeping the excitement going to the end which would be good. The last day has always been a bit strange, as the article says, a champagne fuelled warm down.
Cav won't like it though, he's not going to win on that stage!
(Note to anyone who doesn't read the article, it doesn't say that this is going to be tha last stage so could just be journo speculation)

The rumours I'd read were similar to Ewen's link. Interesting to see the Ventoux being climbed again. From the stages listed on Ewen's link, the mountains look quite spaced out - should suit Brad.
Interesting to see what the final route will be, the Giro organisers have unveiled a route to try and tempt Wiggins and Contador to do that, and its always been a hard job to do the Giro-Tour double in recent years.

Velopeloton are normally pretty much right, they have an abundance of sources from tv to hotels who feed them with info.
The rumours always were that they would take the 2013 race to the major towns/cities on the route of the first tour which makes for an interetsing diversion to the usual anti/clockwise trip around the Country as per the last few years.
Cant see the finish being anywhere other than Paris though, logistics wise it would be a total nightmare for the tv people, the sponsors etc, there would be millions of people on the mountain and the police would struggle to hold it all together. a normal summit finish is at least five deep at the top....

If he even rides the tour. He'll do the Giro because he wants the pink jersey, but might not even ride the tour. Would be good to see him pick up the flat individual TT though.
