I'm half thinking about giving this a go at my local place but just wondered if anyone had any views/experiences to share.

I like the look of the exercises etc but I'm put off by a) the price and b) it's cheesy tv commercial marketing videos - I hate that stuff.

Essentially it seems you have to do the intro course first which is £120 for 12 1hr sessions.

End goal is to put on a bit of useful muscle and improve my running speed without ending up looking like Mo Farrar (bless him, the boy can run but he's a bit skinny).

What do we think?

Is it not just circuit training (with a trendy tm'ed name)?

It's a good way to injure yourself if you haven't already developed the technical skills needed to do a lot of the lifting, and it's become almost like a cult.

Crossfit makes you good at doing Crossfit & doesn't really translate well as a primer for other sports as claimed.

Depends how seriously you take it. Just read most of that article but got bored as I'm not sure what the fackin point was.

Why is it a bad thing that all crossfit does is make you good at crossfit?
Weight lifting only makes you good at lifting weights.
Running a lot only makes you good at running.
etc etc.

I also run, cycle and play tennis....all purely for recreation. This is just another thing to supplement the other stuff.

Oh and to tell the truth I didn't actually go to the gym linked to above as I'm too tight smile A good mate, who is also exceptionally fit/strong, has been going and he set us up a session last night. I don't like the evangelical nature the crossfit scene seems to encourage so this was a good way of dipping my toes in without any sort of commitment. It was good fun.
