My youngest has been captivated by the shooting in the Olympics & Paralympics and is extremely keen & enthused to get learning to shoot.
Trouble is that at seven years old none of the local shooting/gun clubs want to know & I have zero experience! Any help or advice would be MOST gratefully received! I've started her on a pellet gun and targets in the back garden, but really don't know where to go from here.
Cheers in advance all, Al.

BASC run a young guns training course, you could do worse than check there and talk to them on the day. http://www.basc.org.uk/en/young-shots/events.cfm

Fantastic, thanks for that. There's a day coming up on 6th Oct fairly local to us.
Huge thanks, Al.

We went Clay shooting at Griffin Lloyd on the Powys / Salop border earier this year. Their tuition was excellent & they were more than happy for us to bring our lad (9) along next time

You're a little East of me, but one of my work colleagues used to shoot pistols at a fairly high level, and, IIRC is a member of Haverfordwest shooting club. I'd be happy to ask her about friendly South Wales clubs if you wish?

Cheers boththumbup
Shmalex.....that sounds like a great idea for us.
Dimski.......I would be extremely grateful if you wouldn't mind asking.
Ginny (daughter) is really keen and seems quite good at it although I have no idea how to even hold a gun correctly, so I'm completely out of my depth!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again, Al.

I shoot in the Aberdare and district air rifle shooting league. We use 1.77 air rifles and shoot bell targets. The ranges are all in pubs and clubs. At 7 I doubt she will be able to hold the guns as they are heavy and the shooting is done free standing. Then there is the issue of children in the pubs and clubs on an evening. We have had and still do have young members of the league, but 7 really is very young. If you can keep her interested for a couple of years until she gets stronger then she would be more than welcome to try our sport.

There are also leagues in Newport and Bridgend that use the same format.
If you have any more question I will try my best to answer them

I was harnessed by the old man, and we did various things to see what I enjoyed best. We did air rifle target, clay pigeon shooting, pistol shooting (now sadly no more) - which were all formal, and then at home I had a garden shot gun (small bore for shooting tin cans and small game) and an air pistol and air rifle. I also joined cadets where I did all sorts of shooting, and then grew in to clay pigeon and game shooting. A lot more goes on than you would expect, but it is just trying to see what harnesses one's interest most. Perhaps buy some of the various specialist mags and get her reading as well?
