Here is a thread for all world Athletic sports. It does not matter when, where or how high the standard.
It won't get the coverage of Football, Rugby, Golf, Cricket or Motorsport but I was dissapointed that after the recent high profile of the Olympics, tonights event in Lausanne was not heavily advertised on TV or here on PH so a few of us did not know about it.

Anyway, here's hoping we can keep the fire burning for more track and field sports (of all kinds), here.

Next event is The Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix on Sunday 26th August. I think it is on BBC3 from 1400hrs.

I'll have to record it as I am on holiday.

BBC2 I think, but looking forward to it. Not much of the season left now.

Sadly I missed this as I'm on holiday but I've caught up with the results. One thing that's standing out for me at the moment is the distances that are winning the men's long jump. Having started watching athletics during the time of Lewis, Powell, Emmiyan et al, 8.18M wouldn't have got close, yet it won a world class event. Happy though I was that Greg won the Olympics 8.31M is not that impressive really in the scheme of things, so why the drop in standards recently? Is everyone concentrating on the sprints? Is the long jump now a poor cousin of the events?

I know for sure that it is not a poor relation but the performances of the individuals you mentioned were exceptional (for whatever reason).
