That said, I bet they get a fair few sales from this thread. All publicity etc.

Err, what exactly does one of these cheap looking wristbands do to improve anything?

I would have thought it more aptly-named the Power Imbalance band, as it would immediately make one of your wrists heavier than the other.

Exactly that, it's got to be.

But for £9 (On special at the moment) if it does make you think you can work harder it's kind of worth it.

What do you mean "works"?? I can't see anywhere on that site a description of what it's supposed to do...other than be made of "medical grade silicon" and have a hologram.

It is designed to make you look a bit simple...or American?

We tried a thing, standing with your hands behind your back and someone pushes down on them.. Then with the band on, he lifted himself up on my hands. 14st and jumping to push down, I didn't move, the first time I went backwards..

I stand corrected...

"In 2006, two brothers with a passion for competitive sports pursued their idea to blend the powers of Eastern Philosophy and Western Science with Innovative Technologies to deliver products that improve and enhance people’s lives. That idea became a company called POWER BALANCE™, the creators of the Power Balance™ silicone wristband.

Five years and millions of wristbands later, Power Balance™ has single-handedly defined the “Performance Technology” category and redefined the sports accessories market. From thousands of professional athletes to millions of aspiring amateurs, weekend warriors and active consumers, Power Balance™ has become a brand as powerful as the athletes who wear its products. Born in concept from ancient health and wellness practices and wrapped in a modern holographic form, Power Balance™ stands out among its many imitators as “The Original” sports performance wristband. No other Performance Technology accessory on the market can match the roster of hundreds of top professional athletes (and growing!) and millions of satisfied customers all over the world.

THERE ARE MOMENTS IN ALL OF US...WHEN WE REACH FOR THE UNATTAINABLE, PUSH OURSELVES BEYOND THE 100% THRESHOLD AND CROSS THAT LINE FROM COMPETITOR TO CHAMPION. AT POWER BALANCE WE CALL THIS "ACHIEVING YOUR PERSONAL BEST".

...or do I?? confused

I'm sure Dynamo does something similar, but he doesn't wear a PowerBalance thingamywotsit.

Their website says naff all about what the product actually does and I'm pretty sure there have been other threads on these that dismiss them as a plausible improvement too. When its endorsed by so many intelligent sports players though, its no wonder it sells! wink

No. Don't give these con-men money.

All it proves is you're better at things when you know what's coming. You could have done the tests with a Magicsuperlifepro Trilby and got the same results.

If a bit of rubber helps you mentally to the extent you change your perception of what you can do, then you have bigger issues.

I notice some climbers who climb much better than me wear Help For Heroes wrist bands. I can only thing that it has to help. That and the fact they climb 4 times a week to my once a fortnight.

How Does the Hologram Work?
The thin polyester film hologram is programmed through a proprietary process, which is designed to mimic Eastern philosophies that have been around for hundreds of years.

Just found this on the FAQs, can anyone explain what the hell that means? haha...

Yes ancient literature, well known for it's reference to holograms and silicon straps.

I think it was Sun Tzu that said "If you know both yourself and your enemy, you can sell them worthless crap by discounting it from an arbitrary price"
