Nah. 1.) Venues won't be ready, 2.) there'll be traffic chaos, 3.) it's a waste of money, 4.) security will be a nightmare. And 5.) the opening ceremony will be gash.
Have I forgotten anything?

I worked in South America for a number of years and have been to Brazil.
It will be a complete mess, held together with spit and ducktape.
The thing is, it will probably be the most joyous event ever. Except for the muggings on the way home, dealing with corrupt petty officials and the crushing povety, I can't wait.
I'm saving up.

I shall be interested to see where the games are in 2020. I don't fancy Rio much, I have to say.
Istanbul, Tokyo or Madrid. Slightly surprised that Madrid is still in the running given the sate of the Spanish economy - when we awarded the Games in 2005 we didn't know we were going to be skint in 2012. Istanbul is also bidding to host the 2020 Euros and if they get that they won't get the Olympics so the smart money is on Tokyo
I'd really love to, I'm still kicking myself for not getting to any of the London stuff - even the Paralympics are now completely sold out for the days I'd be able to go.
But I'm not sure if I can fly/what it'd take for me to be able to do a trip that length, I haven't tried for the best part of 10 years and I was much, much more mobile then. Not really sure where to start with that one.

Less than 200 days to go now!
During the build up to the London Olympics I really wasn't interested and thought it a waste of money. Then I watched some of it, and then watched a lot more. Really enjoyed it all in the end and excited for Rio now.
Swimming is going to be good I think. Phelps is back out of retirement and looking good, Katie Ledecky seemingly breaks a world record every time she enters the pool. Also some good British prospects, especially Adam Peaty.
Can Bolt get do the triple triple?
Can Jess Ennis-Hill wipe the floor with everyone again?
Will the open water swimmers all come down with Montezuma's revenge after swimming in the cesspit or Rio bay?
Anyone else excited?
Is it right that Rio is only 2 hours behind us? Should make the TV coverage at a reasonable hour.

I've been to Rio a few times over the last six months and things are definitely taking shape now regarding stadiums and infrastructure. We have a regional office situated within a couple of kilometres of the indoor pool, i'm just hoping i can wangle a trip there while it's on.During the build up to the London Olympics I really wasn't interested and thought it a waste of money. I was indifferent about Beijing. But in 2010 I took up Triathlon. So given it was an Olympic sport and we had an excellent chance of Gold. I became interested. I was worried we'd do a st job of it. But I happened to watch the NYE Fireworks at the wheel 2011/2012 so knew we COULD manage some things. Sat and watched the opening ceremony expecting Red Buses and Taxis and quant Policeman and Buckingham Palace and every other stereotype. But thanks to Danny Boyle was blown away!During the build up to the London Olympics I really wasn't interested and thought it a waste of money. Then I watched some of it, and then watched a lot more. This video still makes me beam with pride! (and conjures up a little bit of dust in the room Just like one of the volunteers in it. )

(if you can ignore the international commentary)
Add in the excellent Gamesmakers. The athletes that won loads of Medals and I was hooked and watched so much of it. Even bought the BluRay box set (and the excellent "First" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCjTO4CH94M )
What worries me is that we are a developed 1st world nation who could afford (just about) the £9 Billion it cost to run both Games. Brazil is not. And we have a rich cultural heritage. Again Brazil really doesn't. They have Samba, Football and Poverty.

Rio now seems to be 4 hours behind us. Will it still be that way in August or do they change their clocks? Everything will be on in the middle of the night wont it?
I have booked those two weeks off work!! I am supposed to be looking after the kids whilst the wife works, so they will be entertaining themselves a fair bit :-)

BBC are not offering multiple TV channels like they did for 2012, but all sports will be streamed online.
Its worth keeping an eye on skyscrapercity.com as there is a thread on there where there are regular updates on venues, http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=971...
So what's everyone watching this year. Think I be concentrating on Archery (just started taking lessons), Boxing, Cycling, Rugby, Shooting, Swimming. Also enjoyed handball in 2012 so will give that another watch.

Why the fk was Rio given the Olympics? How many cities (Athens) has it nearly bankrupt by putting it on. Unless it is just a rouse by the state government to get some cash from the central govt. but it doesn't look good. On top of this and the zika virus, the pollution where the swimming and sailing are going on, not looking good less than 2 months out.
