Just watching the Olympic highlights waiting for the closing ceremony and realised i'm feeling something I've not really experienced before in my 38 years.......National pride!

We are so often shunned as the beligerent black sheep of the developed world and yet this year we just seem to have been on the button with everything.

The whole jubilee thing was brilliant, I watched Al Murray last year and whole heartedly agreed with him that London 2012 was "gonna be a bit st", I am overjoyed to be sat here eating my words. And team GB have been exceptional.

Rule Britannia and all that and log may it continue.

Couldn't agree more OP... I thought it was gonna becrap too, but the opening ceremony was sensational, and I was hooked there and then. Watched the mens and womes road races in cycling on the first weekend, followed by beach volleyball, and some swimming, and my intrest just escalated from there.

Its been brilliant. Gutted I didn't make more effort to get tickets, may have to be involved with Para's...

It'll be intresting to see how the Scotts do at hosting the commonwealth games. The bar has been well and truely raised for 2014...

2016 will be the ultimate party in Brazil.

ETA - I think we're gonna be due a LOT of doom and gloom news in the economic and political world in the coming weeks. Once this party all ends, there is a £10billion or so bill to pay...

My wife has been a games maker too. Just been a pretty special year to me in what has been a pretty lack lustre decade.

Watched Elbow at Jodrell Bank in June too which was amazing, great to see them providing the BBC soundtrack to London 2012 and performing tonight.

Got to see a man tomorrow about a new job too, could be the perfect end to a great summer. Would have been a perfect summer if we'd managed to keep Paul McCartney away from the Olympics.

To those who have enjoyed the olympics .... fair enough to be honest ive found it to be a non event, not found one thing to get excited about and just found it took over the news, its been like the world has stopped because of it. only thing that got me slightly intrested was the high diving and gymnastics but thats it.... beach volly ball, running in a straight line , cycling in a circle... mmm not for me thanks. if you all enjoyed it fair play but for me i just thought it took over from the real world for a bit. be glad to see the back of it. to be honest i feel the same way about the world cup too. not a sports fan at all and feel its being rammed down my throat. even work is having olympic themed events. its doing my heed in !!!!

The events are what they are, we didn't create them. Its how we stage the events that counts.

I don't see what there's to be proud of.

Diamond Jubilee? Who cares about that evil old slapper anyway? She'll die soon.

And the Olympics? Bah, don't even get me started. I'd rather do without the fking endless stream of forced patriotism down my throat. Sickening. I hate sport anyway. AND I'm now £10bn out of pocket.

If anything, you should be ashamed for making my life miserable.

Don't worry, the news will be back to double dip recessions, reduced growth forecasts, war and famine by Tuesday...

Well considering you hate sport, it was jolly good of you to pay the £10bn out of your pocket so I'd like to say thanks if nobody else does.
