All fantastic. The screw-ups were sorted out in no time, and I think we left Beijing for dead in many ways.

I think the personalities of the Olympians has been picked up on far more than before, and a lot of them, like Phelps, Bolt and Mo, have emerged as real stars. It just feels far more human than I remember any other games, and I suspect that the BBC deserve some credit for realising the value of personality.

I really enjoyed LA 1984.

I loved Barcelona 1992.

Sydney 2000 - I thought - would not be bettered.

But this one? From the performance of our athletes, to the management, to the arenas, to the volunteers, to the support from the audiences for all the competitors, I've just felt so proud of what we as a country have done.

So, so proud.

And 29 Gold Medals! Count them!

Its been the absolute bks in my humble opinion. We've put on a brilliant show, we built some brilliant areans and stages, we've hosted the world in our capital and we won a st load of medals.

Very proud of my nation...

Couldn't agree more. So good to have something to be proud of for a change. We have waited a long time to show the world what we can do.

The last 17 days have been awesome. Proud, so very very proud, of the UK tonight. Well done London 2012.

I've been enthralled throughout. I should have got tickets!

It has also really struck me that in Bristol the numbers of foreign tourists this year are far in excess of anything I remember.

It's been a great event and I am sure will turn out to be a great "investment" in the economy.

Thought it was fantastic and an amazing event, superior to Beijing in so many ways. For the first time in a long time I actually felt pride and extreme interest in the games. Cannot remember sitting down to watch 1 event for Beijing however this one you couldn't get me away from it. Sitting in Canada watching has been inetersting as in many ways the impact on the UK from a supporters perspective and the sense of pride it has restored, in many ways echoes the Vancouver winter olympics. Huge Kudos to the organisors, atheletes, supporters and the good people of London Job very WELL DONE indeed. To all the naysayers, to mimic a famous American general during WW2 - NUTS !!!

There are some negatives which can't be papered over - the gardens bulldozed for the olympic park etc - but on the whole I have been surprised and amazed at how well we have done.

Everyone was in awe of what China did, but we proved you didn't have to try and out-do China you just had to do it your way. And our way was better.

China did so many drums, we did drums better.
We did culture, music, fashion, humour, irony and teamwork....better.

I was the most cynical person about these games but I'm so proud of what we did.
