Just a few days after the Olympics, Ben Ainslie is heading across to California for the America's Cup World Series, the build-up to the America's Cup proper.

I'm not sure what the team's plans are. The AC World Series is starting to establish itself almost as a separate event from the AC itself.
I will admit that I kind of lost interest in AC sailing initially when 12M were discontinued & regained it when the IACC boats were introduced. Now that it's gone the way of fast cats, I don't really follow it that closely.

Ill be quite honest I havent got a bloody clue what boats anybody is even using these days!I will admit that I kind of lost interest in AC sailing initially when 12M were discontinued & regained it when the IACC boats were introduced. That stupid legal battle has basically ruined the event. I used to follow the big boat events compulsively, during the early to mid 00s was a golden age of proper sailing. Its all died again now
