This Rutherford long jumper guy

His long jump was almost 2 metres longer than that of Ennis but why after so much effort to get to this level is he relegated to and 'by the way we also won a gold in the long jump?

It's one of those tricky sports where after a long run up you only have to get a toe over the line and you're out.
He made the jump look so easy too

I'm comparing the publicity. They both won their sports, one being an excellent all rounder the other being an excellent specialiast.
Neither could have achieved the gold of the other.
Both have been through injuries and couldnt do Beijing.

this rutherford chap but might be agreat guy, but he doesnt have the same magnetic personality though!

7 events are far more entertaining than one.

He was 'only' 10th in Beijing so didn't have the public back story.

He acts like an arrogant knobber when he wins where she's far more likeable.

She has been featured extensively as the face of London 2012, he hasn't. She has been over-hyped by the media, he hasn't.
She won gold in a multi-discipline event, he didn't. She's an attractive woman, he isn't.

The long jump was won in fairly mediocre competition. Jessica Ennis ran closer to the world records of the 100m hurdles and 200m than he did in the long jump. To put it into perspective, if tonight's 100m was won in 10.32 it would be the same as a percentage of the WR.

...and he is a ginge.
