I open the bidding with Matt Baker who cannot get through two sentences without saying "incredible."
He was a runner-up in the inept jubilee coverage, but is now in the gold medal position for the smallest range of knowledge, vocabulary and approach.
Yes he could actually "podium!"

Clare Balding. Oh and the guy on swimming who says the British swimmers are doing marvellous when they finish 7th.

John Inverdale was on form this morning at the Rowing.

Matthew Pinsent had spent a couple of minutes telling us how the boats could be split in 2 for transport, that the Yanks sent theirs over in Shipping Containers and that they were mostly Yellow as that was the standard manufacturer's colour....

Inverdale thanked him then turned to Steve Redgrave and said " i have question.....i've always wanted to know why the boats are mostly the same colour..."

Can't even recall him offering much by way of worthwhile opinion about the music, so what other reason was he there for confused

Balding is very good.

Matt Baker is out of his depth. I know he has the regional accent the all inclusive BBC love so much, and he is enthusiastic, but he's pretty rubbish.

Gary Lineker has been promoted to the big anchor role and it's a promotion too far. He doesn't have the skill or experience to hold the seat for the long periods of time needed, nor does he have the intelligence and whit to handle the seat-of-the-pants live interviews. His interviews are a bit embarrassing in truth.

I'm loving the Olympics but I think the BBC has been shown up to be a bit short of quality presenters.

Ian Thorpe. A great coup for the BBC as one of the greatest modern athletes, but god he's a condescending, self-regarding arse.

Lineker not good either. Nor Foster.

Looking forward to the better crew for the athletics.

Now be fair. Within 20 seconds of each of the most famous songs in the world he was able to tell us who it was by. Massive DJ gen...

Let's face it: Matt Baker has a job for life at the BBC after his "how do you sleep at night" moment:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do4yRf71oZM

He is insipid to the nth degree. Completely lacking in knowledge and talent. He even failed to convey any useful information when covering the gymnastics: his own discipline (only at junior level, of course).

Never liked Claire Balding before this week. However she is doing a great job & her flirting with Ian Thorpe is superb even though she isnt interested.

The pair of them are brilliant. IMO.

As for the worst - Matt Baker.

Lineker's "canoe believe it?" line earlier tonight was worthy of a fiery death too.

Lineker has shown a shocking lack of knowledge of any depth concerning the cycling events. His interviews of Wiggins and Hoy have been cringeworthy. On a sidenote, Hugh Porter (who's come in for a fair degree of criticism in the past) called the men's sprint final in fine style and has a really good rapport with Boardman.

Matt Baker is the worst for me, with Lineker and Inverdale not far behind.

I like Clare Balding as a presenter, she makes sure she is well prepared and always has something informative to say. I'm also liking Ian Thorpe's contributions.

Looking forward to hearing Michael Johnson's thoughts from tomorrow.
