I am trying to find and without luck an issue paying an american at pool.

Basically they have most of their remaining balls on the table. I am on the black, I go for a pot on the black glance it and then the white ball teeters into a pocket, black ball remains on the table, ergo I loose?

I would have thought that just counts as a plain foul, and they would take their two shots? And the game would only be lost if the black and white went down?

Just doesn't seem logical, (nor their foul rule that you only get a single shot)...

Thanks in advance.

pretty sure thats a standard foul shot..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight-ball

yeah its just a scratch

i think if the black and the white are both potted then its a defeat but if only the white is then its just a scratch - foul

However...

blackball - which they tend to play in pubs

if you foul on the black then it is a loss of game

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackball_(pool)

so since you were playing the american version - it would only be a foul

sorry i just read you were playing blackball not 8 ball. you lost in the scenario you stated. the two shots thing is blackball - thus a foul on the black means you lost the game

You should try Dutch rules- no flukes allowed. And there are no fouls - well no two shot rule anyway!
